If President Barack Obama wants easy confirmation for his next nominee to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, he should try a sitting judge or even a Republican, lawyers advised on Monday.
A judge, a Republican or at least a moderate Democrat could avoid the bruising Senate smackdown that ended liberal law professor Goodwin Liu's chances, the lawyers said.
