9th Circuit Revives Alien Tort Case

A group of Argentineans who claim they were kidnapped and tortured by their government in the 1970s at the direction of a Mercedes-Benz subsidiary, can try their case in the U.S.

Plaintiffs who allege they were kidnapped and tortured and their relatives killed at the behest of Mercedes-Benz Argentina in the 1970s will get to pursue their lawsuit in the United States, a federal appellate panel ruled Wednesday in an unusual about-face.
