Manatt Phelps: AUGUST HIRING BINGE ADDS FOUR TO ATTORNEY ROSTER
August was a busy month for Los Angeles' Manatt Phelps & Phillips: A rash of lateral hires brought in three partners and one of-counsel. Antitrust litigator Martin J. Thompson joined the firm's new Orange County office Sept 4. He comes from the Costa Mesa office of Los Angeles' Riordan & McKinzie, which has lost eight of nine partners in the past year. The mass defections follow Riordan's failed merger talks with Palo Alto's Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich.
