Trent Ladewig went to the emergency room of Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Diego 61/2 years ago, after fracturing his left elbow rock climbing . After treatment by a rookie doctor, he left five days later with partial, but permanent, loss of the use of his left hand and fingers and some atrophy and deformity to his arm.
