Two mixed-use projects forward retail revival
Oakland - The end of the year brought two pieces of bright retail news for this quickly reviving city. Work began on Fruitvale Transit Village, a mixed-use project that will connect the Fruitvale BART station with the struggling neighborhood retail hub along nearby International Boulevard. Downtown, merchants from the venerable Housewives' Market were preparing to relocate to the restored Swan's Market building a block away.
