A Year and a Half After Election Controversy, Judge to Retire
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Dzintra I. Janavs has announced she will retire in March. When she lost a re-election bid to an unknown Manhattan Beach bagel shop owner in 2006, the surprise defeat left many in the legal community crying foul. That prompted Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to quickly reappoint her to a vacant seat on the bench.
