The state Assembly resoundingly rejected the State Bar's annual dues bill Tuesday, with members of both parties saying they want to see the measure include stronger reforms of the embattled agency that was again compared to the Titanic.
One assemblyman called the 8-44 vote a "bipartisan body slam," while the author of the bill appeared stunned and called the defeat "new territory for me."
