Bar trustee suggests chief justice set annual dues

Trustee Dennis Mangers suggested Thursday that the agency propose having the California chief justice set the annual fee the bar charges lawyers rather than the state Legislature.

A State Bar trustee suggested Thursday that the agency propose having the California chief justice set the annual fee the bar charges lawyers rather than the state Legislature.

Trustee Dennis Mangers said the proposal would be contingent on the bar also asking lawmakers to split the agency into a separate regulatory board and professional association for attorneys.
