Top Defense Verdicts--Columbia Casualty Company v. National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, PA and American International Specialty Lines Insurance Company


Alexander G. Calfo is a veteran trial lawyer who knows his way around a courtroom. What he isn't, he said, is an expert on insurance law. But he still made it work.


The case involved a dispute between subsidiaries of two of the largest insurance companies in the world and had the potential, Calfo said, to dramatically impact claims handling practices. Columbia Casualty Co. v. National Union Fire Insurance Co., BC402657 (Los Angeles Super. Ct.).
