Pass the Chaos and Hold the Canapes At Fort Staples, L.A.s Urban Shrine
The name of the Staples Center should be changed to Fort Staples. The name change occurred to me Wednesday as I watched Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal hand over a check [amount unspecified] for two new police cars to Mayor Richard Riordan. The money will be used to replace the pair of black-and-whites destroyed by rioters Monday night on the streets outside the center. The torched squad cars were part of the property damage caused by out-of-control fans following the Lakers' win
