Court Reverses Remaining Toxic-Tort Judgment

The California 2nd District Court of Appeal has overturned what remained of one of the largest toxic-tort judgments , tossing out $380 million in punitive damages and remanding the case for reconsideration of the $25 million in actual damages assessed against five oil and chemical companies. The companies had been accused of inadequate notification to workers of health hazards at Lockheed Skunk Works in Burbank.
