FCC strengthens TCPA consumer protections with new rulings

Aimed at curbing robocalling, the rulings are being derided by critics as fodder for abusive litigation.

The Federal Communications Commission passed a series of proposals Thursday to bolster
consumer protections afforded by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act against so-called
robocalls and spam texts.
