Plaintiff wins in hip implant trial

Wright Medical Technology Inc. was found liable Friday for a manufacturing defect that caused its device to crack after three years. This is the first of 1,200 cases decided regarding various alleged defects.

VAN NUYS - After deliberating for a day and a half, a jury on Friday awarded plaintiffs
$4.5 million after finding Wright Medical Technology Inc. liable for a manufacturing
defect that caused a hip implant stem to crack and fail just three years after the
