Judge to give final approval to Hyundai, Kia mileage inflation settlement

U.S. District Judge George H. Wu on Thursday blessed Hyundai and Kia's move to pump up the claims rate by considering drivers who accepted the carmakers' monthly debit card payments as participating classmembers.

LOS ANGELES - U.S. District Judge George H. Wu said Thursday he would give final approval
to a national settlement between automakers Kia Motors America, Inc., Hyundai Motor
America, Hyundai Motor Co., and the plaintiffs who sued them for overstating the gas
mileage on 1.1 million vehicles for model years 2011 to 2013.
