Verdict for Woman Who Sued Over Herpes Infection Stands

The state Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to review a multi-million dollar verdict for a woman whose wealthy boyfriend gave her a sexually transmitted disease.

The state Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to review a multi-million dollar verdict for a woman whose wealthy boyfriend gave her a sexually transmitted disease.

The case had raised a punitive damages issue on which the appellate courts were split. When appellate courts reduce a compensatory damages verdict on appeal, the question is whether punitive damages must be reduced by a comparable amount.
