A federal district judge in Washington state sentenced a suspended Los Angeles tax attorney to 32 months in prison and ordered him to pay $41 million in returned fees and back taxes.
Matthew G. Krane was indicted in 2009 for his role in a tax shelter scheme connected with the Seattle-based investment firm Quellos Group LLC. He later pleaded guilty to tax evasion and making a false statement on a passport application.
