Case Picked for Toyota Bellwether Trial

A federal judge in Santa Ana picked a wrongful death and personal injury case for the first bellwether trial in the unintended acceleration litigation against Toyota Motor Corp., setting a February 2013 trial date.

A wrongful death case stemming from a Utah car crash will be the first bellwether trial in the federal multidistrict litigation against Toyota Motor Corp. involving allegations of unintended acceleration.


U.S. District Judge James V. Selna in Santa Ana, who is overseeing the litigation, announced Friday the case would be the first to reach a jury, setting a trial date for February 2013.
