Daily Journal Staff WriterWASHINGTON ? The Senate confirmed Donald B. Verrilli Jr. to be the next U.S. solicitor general on a 72-16 vote late Monday.
Verrilli, a former partner at Jenner & Block LLP and a White House lawyer, fills the position vacant since Justice Elena Kagan joined the Supreme Court in August 2010. Neal K. Katyal has been serving as acting solicitor general since Kagan left the Justice Department.
