Skadden Arps: PURCHASE EXPANDS PLUM CREEK'S TIMBER EMPIRE

Plum Creek Timber Co. is acquiring the Timber Co. unit of Georgia-Pacific Corp. The deal, valued at $4 billion, is expected to close the first quarter of 2001.
