Panel Will Decide on Ethics of Judges Absences

The on-again, off-again judicial career of Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patrick B. Murphy is off, again, apparently permanently. Murphy, a former nurse who attended medical school in the Caribbean while on sick leave from the bench last year, is under investigation by the state Commission on Judicial Performance for more than 400 days of absences during the past four years.
