Parties in Brocade Backdating Case Lay Out Legal Strategies

The former CEO of Brocade Communications Systems Inc. backdated employee stock-options grants, his lawyer argued Monday in opening statements of his criminal trial, but Gregory Reyes had no idea he was doing anything wrong. The prosecutor, meanwhile, framed the case as a simple matter of Reyes leading a years-long effort to lie to the government and company auditors about the dates option grants were awarded.
