Sacramento utillity to get its due for nuclear waste storage

A Sacramento utility district will receive $53 million from the federal government for the costs it incurred over several decades from storing and disposing of waste from the now-closed Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station.


The judgment comes after many years of litigation stemming from the Department of Energy's failure to follow through on a contract to take nuclear waste.
