Lawmakers try to influence net neutrality rules

A move by Democratic lawmakers earlier this week to introduce net neutrality legislation was viewed widely by telecommunications industry lawyers as a longshot. But it's expected to influence the debate.

A move by Democratic lawmakers earlier this week to introduce net neutrality legislation was viewed widely by telecommunications industry lawyers as a longshot.


But the attempt by Sen. Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont and Rep. Doris O. Matsui of California is expected to influence the heated debate over how the Federal Communications Commission should oversee the delivery of Internet data to end users.
