Chang is helping fight efforts in several states to force Tesla Motors Inc. to sell its popular electric vehicles through dealerships instead of directly to customers.


Dealerships in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Missouri allege the Palo Alto-based carmaker violate franchise laws by letting customers buy its cars online or though Tesla-owned stores.
