Judge Lets Fate Take Its Course
LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Superior Court Presiding Judge-elect Robert A. Dukes says he lives with a "serendipity philosophy of life." For decades, Dukes has been on a road of fortunate discoveries, from realizing he wasn't cut out for medical school to flunking the physical for the military draft. Instead of going to Vietnam, he went to work in the litigation department for an insurance company, which inspired him to finish law school.
