Financier Gets Eight-Year Sentence for Investor Fraud

Prominent Silicon Valley financier "Boots" Del Biaggio III made a tearful apology Tuesday before being sentenced to eight years in prison by a federal judge for an investment scheme that defrauded investors of nearly $70 million.

Prominent San Jose businessman and financier William J. "Boots" Del Biaggio III made a tearful apology Tuesday before being sentenced to eight years in prison by a federal judge for an investment scheme that defrauded investors of nearly $70 million.

He said his mistakes were driven by pride rather than greed. "It was about not wanting to fail," he said. "It was stupid and arrogant."
