San Mateo Courts to Lay Off Another 60

San Mateo County Superior Court has discovered a surprise $3.89 million deficit that it said will force layoffs of 60 court workers - and this time the state budget isn't entirely to blame.

SAN FRANCISCO - San Mateo County Superior Court has discovered a surprise $3.89 million deficit that it said will force layoffs of 60 court workers - and this time the state budget isn't entirely to blame.

Court Executive Officer John Fitton sent an e-mail to employees Thursday telling them this financial shortfall was caused by "internal accounting, tracking and analysis deficiencies."
