Cisco appeals Microsoft-Skype deal

Cisco Systems appealed the European Commission's approval of Microsoft's acquisition of Skype months after the deal closed and talks between the companies fell through.

PALO ALTO-In a rare move, San Jose-based Cisco Systems Inc. appealed the European Commission's approval of the Microsoft Corp.'s acquisition of Skype SA months after the deal closed.


Cisco had been in talks with Microsoft trying to reach an agreement before filing the appeal, according to a person familiar with the matter.
