Bosses Barred Chen's Promotion, Lawyer Says

SANTA ANA - Orange County Deputy District Attorney Victoria Chen volunteered to take assignments within the office that no one else wanted and won convictions in more than 30 cases she tried as a trial prosecutor, but an all-white supervisorial staff still barred her from promotion, her lawyer, Niall Sweetnam, said Tuesday during closing arguments in her discrimination lawsuit.
