Renowned criminal defense attorney Judy Clarke has been appointed to represent Jared Lee Loughner, charged in the attempted assassination Saturday of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords outside a Tucson grocery store.


The five-count complaint also charges Loughner, 22, with the murders of U.S. District Judge John Roll and Gifford's aide, Gabriel Zimmerman, and the attempted murder of two of Gifford'...
