Wilson Sonsini: COMPUTER RIVALS AGREE TO A $25 BILLION MERGER

Palo Alto-based Hewlett-Packard Co. will acquire rival computer manufacturer Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston in a $25 billion stock swap. Hewlett Packard is the No. 2 computer company in the world behind International Business Machines Corp. of Armonk, N.Y. The company produces a range of products from computers and software to printing and imaging peripherals.
