Gilead leaves California attorneys in the cold for $11 billion buy

In a continuation of a trend in favor of New York attorneys on large deals, none of the lawyers on Gilead's $11 billion purchase of Pharmasset practice in California.

Attorneys from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP saw work on Foster City-based Gilead Sciences Inc.'s $11 billion all-cash purchase of Pharmasset Inc. on Monday.


But in a continuation of a trend in favor of New York attorneys on large deals, none of the lawyers for Gilead on the transaction practice in California.
