SDG&E proposes fee for solar panel owners

San Diego Gas and Electric has proposed to the California Public Utilities Commission that it be allowed to charge solar panel owners a "grid-use" fee, in part for producing energy that flows onto the power system.

San Diego Gas and Electric has proposed to the California Public Utilities Commission that it be allowed to charge solar panel owners a "grid-use" fee. The effort is opposed by a coalition of solar energy installers in San Diego who claim the move would depress the solar energy industry.


California's net metering law allows homeowners and businesses to pay only their "net" usage...
