Court leaders look for human cost in budget cuts

Court administrators this week sent "urgent" requests to judges and lawyers around the state asking them to provide specific examples of how budget reductions have affected peoples' lives.

SACRAMENTO - The self-help guardianship clinic at Los Angeles County Superior Court has always required a little patience. Now it takes a lot.


The clinic for adults seeking guardianship of underage children used to take 6 weeks from start to finish - during which the children live in temporary housing - according to Leslie Parrish, an attorney at Public Counsel.
