Corporate bankruptcies boom in California

The Central District especially is experiencing a boom in Chapter 11 bankruptcies, even as these so-called corporate bankruptcy filings decline throughout the rest of the country.

As corporate bankruptcy filings decline across the country, Southern California is one outlying hot spot where filings continue to spike.


Ten percent of all Chapter 11 cases in the past year were filed in the Central District - the highest volume in the country.
