Morgan Lewis team served on panel investigating San Francisco police bias

Attorney Colin C. West of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP was among those who served on the Blue Ribbon Panel on Transparency, Accountability, and Fairness in Law Enforcement, convened by San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón in the wake of a scandal. The panel was tasked with reviewing the question of whether bias was institutionalized in the police department and to provide recommendations to address any problems it found.

A series of unapologetically racist texts exchanged between officers of the San Francisco Police Department went public in 2015. The texts included racial epithets, called various groups "stupid," "animals," and made reference to hanging and cross burning.
