Chief justice deposed in suit against State Bar

Attorneys representing former State Bar Executive Director Joseph L. Dunn questioned Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye for two hours Tuesday.

California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye was deposed Tuesday by attorneys representing former State Bar Executive Director Joseph L. Dunn in his whistleblower retaliation lawsuit against the bar.

Cantil-Sakauye's deposition in the case regarding Dunn's 2014 termination may have been the first time a sitting California chief justice has been deposed in a civil lawsuit.
