More than 10 percent of State Bar staff apply for buyouts

Employees accepted for "reduction in force program" would get two weeks of severance pay per year of service, up to 20 weeks.

More than 10 percent of the State Bar's employees have applied to participate in the agency's "reduction in force" program that will provide severance payments to staff who depart.

The employee separation initiative is part of the embattled bar's efforts to address an anticipated $4.5 million funding shortfall next year.
