The Secret's Out
SAN JOSE - Winning a trade-secrets case can be cold comfort, as a Cupertino software company found out last month. A Santa Clara County jury determined that online brokerage E*Trade Group and a small technology firm had misappropriated trade secrets belonging to the software company Ajaxo Inc. The panel awarded $1.29 million in damages against E*Trade, but that represents only a small fraction of the losses claimed by the victim.
