Gov. Jerry Brown and state legislators struck an agreement on the state budget Thursday, setting the stage for a finalized budget next week.
Under the deal's framework, the judiciary will see a $544 million budget cut as previously proposed. Trial courts will be required to spend down a majority of their reserve funds, although they may keep a nest egg of as much as 1 percent of their total budget.
