The 4th District Court of Appeal overturned Friday a jury's $12.7 million award for the family of plaintiff Whitney Engler against a doctor, David Chao, and medical device manufacturer Breg Inc.
Engler's family now must decide whether to pursue a new trial in San Diego County Superior Court or accept the appellate court's remitted $1.4 million award.
