Court filings declined by more than 660,000 cases, or 9 percent, in fiscal year 2014-15, according to Judicial Council data.
The report, released Thursday, found that the largest changes in statewide filings were in the less complex and resource-intensive limited jurisdiction case types, such as misdemeanors and infractions, small claims and limited civil.
