SAN FRANCISCO - In a landmark 136-page ruling that is already en route to higher courts for review, Northern District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker Wednesday struck down Proposition 8, California's voter-approved same-sex marriage ban, finding it was rooted in moral disapproval and violates gay couples' constitutional rights to due process and equal protection.
