Surgeon's defamation suit settles in wake of $1.5M trial verdict

The settlement came in a case in which the plaintiff, transplant surgeon Dr. Hootan Roozrokh, sued two former supervising surgeons for telling colleagues Roozrokh was a liar and a drunk.

Parties in an unusual defamation and wrongful termination lawsuit announced a confidential settlement last week just days after a jury's decision to award $1.5 million for defamation. The plaintiff, transplant surgeon Dr. Hootan Roozrokh, sued two former supervising surgeons for telling colleagues Roozrokh was a liar and a drunk.
