Supreme Court expedites high speed rail appeal

The state wants to overturn two rulings by a Sacramento County Superior Court judge prohibiting the rail authority from selling bonds and spending revenue on the project.

The state Supreme Court has assigned for expedited review an appeal filed Friday by Gov. Jerry Brown's administration and the state's High Speed Rail Authority. The state wants to overturn two rulings by Sacramento County Superior Court Judge Michael Kenny prohibiting the rail authority from selling bonds and spending revenue on the project, as the rulings jeopardize the future of the $68 billion transit line.
