A leading maker of chemical flame retardants has sued the state of California to block its new furniture flammability standards, arguing it violates state law and threatens public safety.
Philadelphia-based Chemtura Corp., which filed its lawsuit last week in Sacramento County Superior Court, pilloried the new rules, which went into effect Jan. 1.
