Tossing Barbie Nets Attorney Fee Sanctions

LOS ANGELES - In an opinion that would have warmed the plastic heart of Attorney Barbie, a federal appeals court supported sanctions of more than $500,000 against a Los Angeles lawyer who hurled Barbies around a conference room when shown that a copyright claim he filed against Barbie and her maker, Mattel Toy Co., was baseless.
