Retired Judge Berman Dies at 80

SAN FRANCISCO - Longtime judge and criminal lawyer Jack Berman died Thursday. He was 80. Known as much for his colorful political and private life as for his prowess in the courtroom, Berman, a native San Franciscan and 1944 Boalt Hall graduate, served 11 years as an assistant district attorney under Pat Brown and Tom Lynch.
