New state appellate appointees include federal judge, same-sex marriage advocate

Gov. Jerry Brown made waves over the weekend with a string of appointments to the state courts of appeal, naming a veteran federal judge in Los Angeles and a fiery proponent of same-sex marriage in San Francisco.

Gov. Jerry Brown made waves over the weekend with a string of appointments to the state courts of appeal, naming a veteran federal judge in Los Angeles and a fiery proponent of same-sex marriage in San Francisco.


All of the judges named are well known in their own right, and include the former presiding judge of the Los Angeles County Superior Court and Brown's former top adviser.
