State Bar will audit more lawyers for MCLE, especially those with past problems

The State Bar will audit the MCLE compliance of 5,500 lawyers whose last names begin with the letters N-Z. About 40 percent of the targets will be lawyers who've had previous MCLE issues or tend to file late.

If your last name begins with a letter from the second half of the alphabet, keep a close eye on your mail next week. You may be one of 5,500 lawyers who get a notice that the State Bar is double-checking whether you really did your required continuing legal education.
